My Approach to working with you

Here's how I like to serve my clients. Relationship is important.

Gone (for me, anyway) are the days of cold impersonal relationships between lawyers and their clients. Been there, done that. It’s no fun and it serves no one.

I believe in listening to what you want to achieve and providing you education and advice to empower you to make the best possible decisions for yourself and your loved ones given your unique circumstances. Then together we design the perfect legal plan to accomplish your goals.

In my practice, I have ongoing relationships with my clients. Things change in our lives and the legal protections you put into place today may not still serve you a few years from now. Our ongoing professional relationship ensures that you stay protected.

Estate Planning (aka Life & Legacy Planning)

For those looking at Estate Planning, we thoroughly look at the tough questions together. What happens if you become incapacitated temporarily or permanently? Who do you trust to look out for your best interests financially and/or medically? If you’re a parent, who do you want to take care of your children if you are no longer able to do so?

And looking at the even bigger question of mortality, who do you want to be taken care of when you're gone? Who do you trust to ensure that your wishes are carried out?

If you don't make plans while you can, California State law has a default plan in place for you, and more often than not, the State's plan is not what you would choose for yourself and your loved ones.

Life and Legacy Planning gives you a strong voice and helps ensure that your wishes are carried out.

Business Legal Services

As a small business owner myself for well over a decade, I know the many challenges solopreneurs and small business owners face, especially when starting a new business. There are a ton of pieces to juggle and put into place, and some important things can easily fall through the cracks.

Let me help you get your business on a solid foundation with affordable business legal services so that you can focus on your work and do what you do best.

What do you want to achieve? What do you want to contribute? That’s what’s most important to me.

I believe in listening to you and what you want to do with your business, then designing the perfect business legal services plan to help you accomplish your goals.

So if you contact me for legal information or services for your small business, I’ll ask you a lot of questions. I want to be able to propose the best solutions to help you protect and grow your business.

A word about fees…

There probably isn’t a person on the planet who isn’t concerned about the clock ticking and the bill getting bigger every time they talk to their lawyer. This is no way to build a working relationship!

So instead of hourly rates, I offer unique recurring plans for my business clients that allow you to receive more services for less money than if you were paying me by the hour. And because every client’s needs are unique, it’s not possible to quote one amount here. I’d be happy to talk to you one-on-one about your specific needs and my recurring plans in more detail.

No more hourly rate pressures! Let’s talk about your vacation to Hawaii without you worrying about being charged for the time we chat!

I also handle flat fee projects on occasion for clients who aren’t ready for a recurring plan, or who may not yet know me well enough to commit to a recurring plan to help protect and grow their business.

I’m based in Berkeley, California, and much of my work is done “virtually.” That means I can help you wherever you are in California and you save travel time and cost. We work together via telephone and/or Skype, and of course, email.
